The (last?) dance
solo version
Do you still get letters from the dead? I write to you
to the year after your death, what do you see without eyes?
Here grow blueberry and mica, later
it will be revealed which sentences would have been
important. (...)

“Eva Baumann, a constant artist of the independent scene for years, showed with The (last?) dance the farewell to a person in an equal fusion of dance and puppetry (...) In fact, most of the time you saw two people instead of a dancer in this thoughtful miniature.”
(Angela Reinhard, Reutlinger Generalanzeiger, 04/06/2022)
“Eva Baumann's work is the most appealing dance piece in the programme: she lends her body to a puppet's head. Sitting on her shoulder, on her hand or even on her foot, the grim-looking head begins a kind of fast-paced dance of death and almost seems to take control of the dancer's body. The way she coordinates the movements, sometimes with minimal effort, sometimes with grand gestures, and how she brings the puppet to life, is sophisticated.”
