Every person is led by an angel and a demon, and there is a strange, precarious relationship between those two.

The project SOLODUIVELDANSEN II, III + IV is a site-specific music-dance performance. In the sacred ambience of the seven largest churches in the Netherlands, pianists Ivo Janssen and Bastiaan Brink perform the Soloduiveldansen No. 2, 3 and 4 by composer Simeon ten Holt in combination with three solo dances.
The interweaving of light and darkness in human existence is the focus of their dances, which deal with the relationship between body and mind, joy and suffering, and good and evil.
In the past, these concepts were given meaning in connection with a myth, a religion or an ideology. But by the twentieth century the absolute meaning of these systems crumbled. The question the artists are dealing with in this project is therefore: What can these classical relationships still mean in the present day?
